NEW CIRCUS

The Czech National Ballet will offer the world premiere of the original ballet The Sun, the Moon and the Wind choreographed by Viktor Konvalinka, the world premiere of the original ballet Sheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov choreographed by Mauro Bigonzetti.

The anniversary edition of the International Festival of New Circus and Theatre begins, filling Letná Gardens with a new circus atmosphere from 17 August to 3 September. 

Cirque du Soleil, Canada's world-famous, most commercially successful circus, has returned to its original work after a long pandemic hiatus. In Montreal, they are currently presenting their newest show called Echo.

The Nultý bod Festival, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, will spend its celebration by relaxing. In Prague, the festival regularly fills the cultural programme in July and offers innovative performances of contemporary foreign and Czech works...

The celebration of twenty years of its existence will begin with a unique tribute to the new circus. The opening performance is free to the public and will be shown only twice - on 16 and 17 August.

The Letní Letná festival has taken root on the plain in Prague for nineteen years of its existence. It is associated with a pleasant and action-like atmosphere that enriches the city while the holidays slowly disappear. 

The Cirkopolis Festival was held in Prague for the ninth time. This year's edition offered three domestic titles and five foreign ones, many of which touched very intimately on issues of the body and corporeality. 

Rarely have I put my head back so often during a festival visit. My eyes tried to follow the movements of the performers as closely as possible, but in the case of this festival, they really took on acrobatic challenges...

In the edition celebrating its maturity, the Letní Letná festival was generously dedicated to Czech contemporary circus productions. 

The second week of February saw the 8th edition of Prague’s Cirkopolis festival, an international showcase of circus art organised by Cirqueon - centre for contemporary circus and Akropolis Palace.

2020 Theatre Critics’ Awards (previously called Alfréd Radok Awards), based on a survey conducted by the Svět a divadlo magazine, were announced on 3 February 2020.
