DC Journal 2024

Dance Context Journal focuses on original articles of a popular and scholarly nature. It analytically focuses on current issues and developments in dance, non-verbal theatre and new circus.

The theme of the first edition of the Journal is dance in public space. With this choice we wanted to give space for reflection on dance in a broader sense than just "theatrical" or "professional" dance, and also to open a discussion about what "public space" actually is and the role of dance in it. Dance Context Journal contains six popular science texts and three peer-reviewed studies by dance scholars, artists from the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Italy, England and China. The publication opens with three summaries of the 2023/24 season in the fields of contemporary dance, ballet and non-verbal theatre/new circus.
