Fiesta represents the next step in the New Stage's long-term ambition in bringing live art forms and theatre to general public to the square of piazzeta. In its outdoor form theatre meets people, inspires them and lures them to take part. Theatre conventions disappear and theatre art merges with urban space, entertaining and living up the urban landscape and contributing to the cultural atmosphere of the summer city. Festival Fiesta is organized by the New Stage at the National Theatre's piazzeta, a square in the vicinity of the National Avenue, surrounded by the administrative building of the National Theatre, the building of the New Stage and Divadelní street. The New Stage already revitalized the piazzeta in previous years with two temporary summer installations in the public space: Picnic of the New Stage (2010) and New Stage - Sit Down (2011). This summer, from the end of June to the beginning of August, the piazzeta will become a cultural Hyde Park, offering events on regular basis. From 23. 6. to 4. 8. the Fiesta festival will present more than four dozens of outdoor programmes - all of them for free.
The core of Fiesta programme is constituted by theatre, music and variety of other cultural events. These are mostly organized in the afternoon, in a day light. The programme is cancelled in case of inclement weather. The New Stage is in charge of the programme, PR and promotion of the event; it also provides festival participants with basic production services. All participants will receive a minor remuneration to cover production fees. Everyone interested in taking part in Fiesta 2012 is encouraged to apply following simple guidelines for applicants at www.novascena.cz/en.
