Grand Prix Golden Prague Goes to German Documentary about Lang Lang

The International Television Festival Golden Prague 2012 finished on October 17th. The Grand Prix GOLDEN PRAGUE is awarded to LANG LANG – THE ART OF BEING A VIRTUOSO in recognition of the outstanding filmmaking: the cinematography, the film editing and complex layering throughout the film. The viewer is drawn into the very special world of Lang Lang and witnesses both the solitude and glamour of a world superstar. The idea of linking Lang Lang with the music of Franz Liszt – an idol from a bygone era - is brilliantly carried throughout the film. Ultimately one comes to appreciate the genius of Lang Lang as a communicator - as a musician and an ambassador for classical music.
The Czech Crystal for Performing Arts programme is awarded to THE WORLD OF MATTHEW BOURNE. The film celebrates a master choreographer in a perfectly concentrated way. Highlights from his work are stylishly and engagingly showcased – using projections, animations and an intimate shooting style – all very well designed for the medium of television.
