New Europe Festival 2011 – Jarmila Jeřábková Award
News
The New Europe Festival will present contemporary dance and dance theatre performances over the course of five festive evenings. These dance projects originated in countries which we have titled NEW EUROPE, knowing it to be a little exaggerative. These are in fact those countries that have either recently joined the European Union or which are leading discussions on joining the EU.
24. - 28. 11. 2011 / Duncan Centre Theatre Selected artists up to 35 years of age will present two choreograephies at the festival and will compete for the Jarmila Jerábková Award. One of the choreographies will be the piece which ensured them their nomination to the final round and the other will be a new piece inspired by the music of the Czech composer Lukáš Matoušek.
An international board will select up to three dance projects (during the Festival) and these will be awarded the Jarmila Jeřábková Award. Application deadline: 15. 5. 2011
Artists interested in participating in the New Europe Festival are required to send a video recording of a dance project they want to present at the Festival to the below stated address by 15. 5. 2011.

Newly created dance projects must comply with the above stated parameters and must be sent as a video recording to the below stated address by September 30, 2011. Newly created choreographies will be presented as part of the Festival together with the registered dance project.
All the dance projects will be assessed and evaluated by an international board consisting of Czech and foreign dancers, choreographers and dance theorists (John Ashford, Jan Minařík, Michel Vincenot, Nina Vangeli, Eva Blažíčková), which will select winning dance projects. These will be awarded prizes that amount to a total of CZK 130,000. Half of the funds won must be used to create a new project and these will be performed for the very first time at the Duncan Centre Theatre at the beginning of the next festival and competition in 2012.
Dances and such will be prone to original light design and stage setting. Dance projects based on classical music composed by Lukáš Matoušek, which will be performed on Saturday night, will be performed under limited light design (for more information refer to the section on Technical Information).
