Similar to last year, the festival will be divided into two parts, the first one taking place in June and the second one in September 2021. The main programme of the June part will open with a piece called GRACES by the Italian choreographer Silvie Gribaudi. The summer programme will be located in Prague and 20 smaller towns in the Czech Republic and will be running until late June. With regard to the governmental measures, the programme is regularly updated and tickets are made available for purchase on www.tanecpraha.cz and www.goout.cz¨
“This time last year we were planning open air events and targeting Czech audiences with the slogan “Tančíme dál!” (Dance on!) and it was worth it. We didn’t get stuck in the digital world, spectators across the country appreciated live productions. This year, we are looking for an international dimension, however hard it may be. Festival goers are looking forward to international stars and we have booked them. In one or two weeks, we should obtain clear and concrete guidelines on how to safely reopen the culture sector . With the Culture Minister we’ve discussed the possibility of using TANEC PRAHA as a pilot project to test the safety of live events held in line with strict sanitary measures,” says the founder and director of TANEC PRAHA Yvona Kreuzmannová.
The TANEC PRAHA international festival of contemporary dance and physical theatre is one of the biggest events on the Czech cultural calendar. Every June since 1989, the festival showcases the diversity and quality of the current foreign and domestic dance scene, gives space for experimentation and crossover with other genres, and supports the emergence of new works as co-productions.
