Teatr Novogo Fronta Celebrates its 20th Year by Unique Project with Israeli Clipa Theatre

Israeli theatre ensemble Clipa visited Prague on behalf of Teatr Novogo Fronta´s 20th anniversary. Just the leading personalities of both ensembles, Dmitry Tyulpanov and Irina Andreeva met in Russia in 1991 whilst creating their common performance Češuja (Slivers) which has reached huge succes in 90´s and so, both of them became the founders of Teatr Novogo Fronta. After 20 years in Prague and Dimitry in Tel Aviv, we are meeting again in order to create common project called With Unarmed Forces,“ says Teatr Novogo Fronta director Irina Andreeva and continues: „Our theatrical language is very similar, either me and Dimitry, or the director of project The Other Idit Herman, we all work in non-verbal, physical and visual way.“
Dmitry Tyulpanov met Irina Andreeva in St. Petersburgand both has been acting in same artistic environment. After the success of the Češuja performance, their paths have led them to different corners of the world and both founded their own theatre companies. In the case of Dmitry Tyulpanov it was Clipa Theater, which he founded together with dancer and director Idit Herman and it is settled now in Tel Aviv, Israel. During many years of existence, Clipa has created its very own, incommutable and integral theatrical language and poetics, which is built on strong visuality diffusing trough every element of their performance – from costumes to set and music.
Project With Unarmed Forces started to rise in november 2012 when Irina Andreeva visited Clipa Theatre in Tel Aviv – in atmosphere of weeklong keen-edged conflict between Israeli government and Hamás movement. A most significantly, Irina, Dimitry and Idith met each other on the day of first rocket missile attack and shake their hands over the future cooperation the day the ceasefire was signed.
The performance is an output of mutual cooperation between two significant ensembles in their field. Main theme of the project, which formally promises to be a brutal grotesque, is violence and its origin in man´s mind and in mankind and society.
The world premier of performance With Unarmed Forces will take place in Prague in Teatro NoD (Dlouhá street 33, Prague 1 – Old Town) on 28th and 29th of April 2013. First Czech repetition will be held in Jihlava in DIOD Centre on 1st of May 2013 and Israeli premiere is scheduled for August 2013 in Tel Aviv Clipa Centre for Conterporary Art.
