Slovak National Theatre a step further

The programme opened with Inšpirácia, one of the older works by Mário Radačovský, which he originally created for himself and his not only dance partner Anik Bissonnette. Now he danced it with soloist Klaudia Bittererová. It´s not a choreographic breakthrough, but an esthetically smooth duet about a helpless artits and his miraculous muse, accompanied by Mozart´s piano concerto charming music.

Un Ballo by Jiří Kylián is a difficult dance piece. Varying couples and ensemble variations demand absolute accuracy and synchronicity, which the interprets still lack, although they dance with real passion and fire. The purity of the choreography is typical for Kylián´s work and doesn´t have to be highlighted...

Six dances by Jiří Kylián, which closed the evening, earned thanks to its nature the greatest response from the audience. Humour and ellipsis that are so necessary even on stage, are blending here in micro stories of men and women in their mutual teasing. But even in this light piece accuracy and feeling for the dynamics of movement are still needed. Dancers sold their capabilities with high spirits and dealt well with the characters.

It must be noted that compared to last year the company has improved. Two pieces by Jiří Kylián demand great experience of the dancers. Slovak National theatre has started well but there are still some reserves.
