Mini Interview with Palle Granhoj
Reviews
As those two pieces are the last two after more than 22 years of working I hope they show where we are now…
In Dance me to the end on/off Love you perform again on stage – what is it like, after such a long performing break? Why did you decide to perform?
First of all – it is goood to be back on stage – had totally forgotten the feeling and the reason is that the piece can be considered as a self portrait…
You have been regular guests of Tanec Praha. With what feelings do you return this year?
Absolutely as coming "HOME" - looking very much forward.
In the evening of Granhoj performances, a prize for the best Czech dancer of the year and the best dance piece will be awarded. Do you know Czech contemporary dance scene?
Only a little bit – but when I was a presenter I brought a few guest performances from Czech Republic.
In one piece you use Leonard Cohen´s music, in the other Gustav Mahler´s. Do you see any links or similarities in between these two? Why did you choose music of these composers?
There were no links meant betwen the two pieces… The Cohen piece is a link betwen Cohen´s "longing concept" in words and music into the longing of movement in my own "obstruction concept".
In Mahler you find the loneliness, pain and longing and that is put in the piece as the opposite as humor…
What is the company planning for the future?
Planning for future: work – work – produce and tour and work…
