Advance ticket sales begin for the 38th TANEC PRAHA festival

The 38th edition of the TANEC PRAHA international festival will open on June 1, 2026, at the Ponec Theater with a performance by Lebanese-Spanish duo Guy Nader & Maria Campos and their company of dancers and acrobats. Their work Natural Order of Things has already won several awards. The equally successful Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos will provide the grand finale of the festival on June 23 at the Karlín Music Theater with his work My Fierce Ignorant Step.

"This year's festival managed to get the audience out of their seats more than once, and I believe that will also be the case in 2026. The creators of both main events, the opening and closing of the TANEC PRAHA 2026 festival, will return to us after 10 years. During that time, they have become renowned figures on the world dance scene, and it is an honor for us to welcome them back to Prague," says Yvona Kreuzmannová, founder and director of the festival.

What keeps us together in a changing world? The natural order of things, the rhythm of the laws of nature. The dancers of the GN|MC – Guy Nader & Maria Campos company draw the audience into a cyclical flow of movement in which minimalist motifs layer, culminate, and return to their original pulse. Brilliant partnership, work with weight and the physical limits of the body create an organic system reminiscent of natural processes – fragile yet resilient. Harmony and aesthetics stand in gentle protest against chaos; beauty and interplay prevent decay, just as nature itself does.

Christos Papadopoulos creates a hypnotic structure from micro-movements, rhythmic phrases, exhalations, and voices—a stream that culminates in an ecstatic conclusion. His new work embodies the highest form of minimalism: a masterfully coordinated group of dancers moves in perfectly synchronous rhythm, while leaving room for the individuality and naturalness of each performer. My Fierce Ignorant Step is a choreographic meditation on courage, youth, and life energy.

The Prague program will offer audiences both top-notch works by foreign artists and co-productions by Czech artists in collaboration with personalities from Europe. Twice, viewers will be able to visit Jatka78, once for Cameroonian multi-artist Zora Snake and once for the well-known Greek-Slovak creative duo Linda Kapetanea and Jozef Fruček.

The Ponec Theater will open its doors to Israeli and Spanish artists in two completely contrasting duets that speak of female energy, resilience, and perspective. This stage will then primarily feature works for children performed by artists from Italy, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. Family Friendly is a key program line not only in Prague but also in other regions of the Czech Republic.

Artists who have been successful on the European Aerowaves platform will also visit around 20 cities and towns. Their concepts are suited to non-theatrical spaces, such as calm water surfaces. They will come from Latvia and France. Their Open Air projects will be complemented by French, Spanish, Italian, and local artists.
