Civic association Motus prepared for the year 2014 a showcase entitled Východiska, presenting theater and dance work of independent and innovative artists from Central and Eastern Europe. From February to December Alfred ve dvoře theatre will present artists and ensembles from Slovenia, Romania, Poland, Croatia, Lithuania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. "Why these countries? In the nineties, the main focus of artists was aimed at the long forbidden "West". Now, a bit later on, with the benefit of hindsight, we can, even in a wider context, again observe an interest in cooperation with countries we share not only a similar historical experience, but also attempts to cope with it. Efforts to search, find and re-establish one’s identity," Ewan McLaren, director of the civic association Motus, explains the motivation for organizing the show Východiska. "Although this trend of divert attention is at least partially apparent, the possibility to get acquainted with the work of independent artists from this area is still very little," he says.
"Given that in the Balkan countries or in the Ukraine I met with sometimes admiring interest in Czech art, I got the impression that in this respect we have what to give back. Often we do not realize how, despite all the pitfalls and difficulties, our creative freedom is in comparison with some other countries large. And in this sense we can, and maybe it is a bit expected form us, take proactive role in the establishment of an international artistic dialogue between post-socialist countries. At the same time, this meeting will enrich us, expand our horizons and can sometimes stir the Czech stiff peaceful pond," says Ewan McLaren.  The first guest performance entitled Kaj če…/What if… will be presented on Monday 3rd February at 8pm. What If …we lived differently? What if – we didn't? Kaj če… /What If… is a performance about not living differently. It is a performance about how time measures out the rhythm of our lives; how instability and hyper productivity dictate the rhythm of work and how resistance often frames the rhythm of feeling. Kaj če… /What If … is a solo of a dancer and a solo about a dancer; it is a dance solo about what the body is capable of doing and what not (any longer). It is a dance solo about the exposure and vulnerability of all bodies. Kaj če… /What If … is a performance about an insecure, unstable and vulnerable situation the dancer on stage is pushed into, the body of a dancer at work, the body of a dancer in life, who is continuing her investigation of the intersection between the body, gender and society, while critically addressing production conditions of contemporary dance (and art in general), which are the on-going themes of Maja Delak's work. Maja Delak is a choreographer and dancer. She studied contemporary dance at CNDC L'Esquisse in Angers, France, and at numerous dance seminars, lead by internationally renowned pedagogues. She was, from 1993 to 2002, a member of the international dance group En-Knap, and a programme leader of the realization of a high school programme for contemporary dance, provided for at the Pre-School Education and Grammar School Ljubljana.
In 2006, Maja Delak established institute EMANAT, with which she aims for the affirmation of contemporary dance – both with performance production as well as with a book programme (Transitions series) and education (AGON).
In 2010 she won the Prešeren Fund Award, the highest recognition for achievements in the field of art in the Republic of Slovenia. In 2013 her performance Shame was awarded as best performance of the Slovenian Dance Platform Moving-Cake. In the same year Luka Prinčič and Maja Delak received Liberal Academy Golden Bird Award for the artistic achievements on the field of performing arts.
