Bolek Polívka appeared 20 years ago in the main program of London International Mime Festival. There was a long twenty years break during which a Czech representative was missing at this prestigious theatrical festival. Only this year, the Spitfore Company received an invitation and will perform their award-winning performance One Step Before the Fall, starring Lenka Dusilová, Markéta Vacovská or Veronika Kotlíková.It will be the 38th edition of London Mime Festival this year, making it one of the oldest meetings of artists who excel in one of the non-verbal theatre genres, such as new circus, puppetry, physical and visual theatre. Thanks to the successful performance of Spitfire Company at Edinburgh Fringe Festival where the group received a Herald Angel Award and a nomination for the Total Theatre Award, the company also got an invitation from London Mime.Petr Boháč, the artistic director of Spitifre Company, comments the performance: "It is incredibly difficult to get to such prestigious festival. The whole program is composed of artists from France, England, Belgium and Italy. Sometimes there appears a theatrical star from Russia, such as Děrevo. Otherwise the central European theatrical context is completely overlooked and underestimated. Only thanks to the award at the Edinburgh Fringe where the programmers from London Mime saw us, they began to be interested in our work."Even before the performance, two articles appeared in London press that predict One Step Before the Fall will be one of the highlights of London Mime itself. Hüter Donald writes in the Times about a theatrical knockout impossible to avoid after seeing the performance. The London shows will take place on 23rd and 26th January (the festival runs from January 8th to February 1st).Czech audience will be able to see One Step Before the Fall on 14th January, from 20h, further performances are scheduled for 21st February and 11th of March.
