Czech Dance Platform Is Approaching

The 18th year of Czech Dance Platform, the festival of Czech contemporary dance and movement theatre will be held from April 13th to 16th at Prague theatres Ponec, Alfred ve dvoře, Studio ALTA and Teatro NoD. Within this short period twelve Czech dance projects will be presented to audiences and to professional dance promoters alike. Besides the main programme, the festival also offers a rich accompanying programme. Participating institutions are The Light Design Institute (workshops, discussions, prize) and SE.S.TA – Reading of Dance Atelier. Lenka Bartunkova will open the festival on April 13 at 6.30 pm with her site-specific project Lágrima and the photographs exhibition of Vojtěch Brtnický will follow at the Ponec theatre. You can also look forward to the after party with the ZRNÍ band after the Saturday performance of VerTeDance at the Ponec theatre. The first year of the festival Czech Dance Platform was held in 1994. Inspired by similar, well-established, professional platforms around Europe, Tanec Praha civic association decided to organize a festival presenting the most recent pieces created within the domain of contemporary dance in the Czech Republic. Since then, the goal of the festival has been to present to wide public and guests from the regions and from abroad (primarily to cultural managers and organizers of events from other towns of the Czech Republic but Prague, promoters, directors of theatres, etc.) over a very short period of time the most interesting dance projects, all of that on annual basis. The festival aims at establishing national and international contacts and partnership co-operation which, in the end, result in Czech pieces being presented at other venues and festivals.
