Dance Event of the Year – Choreography Sideways Rain to Be Performed at Tanec Praha

On June 26 and 27 the Swiss company Alias is scheduled to perform their hypnotic and fascinating piece Sideways Rain at the Karlin Musical Theatre in Prague. The choreography was created by Guilherme Botelho, the founder and for many years artistic director of the company Alias. Go to the riverside and watch the stream of water flow past. It never stops; it keeps changing every single second, flowing in the same direction and taking along with it everything that tries to move “against the current“... As with a river, the show Alias is never the same. With rules of its own, which require extreme concentration and physical training on the part of the dancers, it opens a huge space for our imaginations, stories and emotions. This is a pure form of art, a “graphic“ show, a treat for architects, visual artists and the general public. Fourteen dancers cross the stage... From left to right, then again, tirelessly. They walk, run, fall, rise, stop, then start again, driven by an inexplicable desire to run. Towards what? Towards a fate that seems to slip through their fingers. Crossing after crossing, they simultaneously depict the human condition, the evolution of Man, the transformations of the universe. With this piece, Guilherme Botelho is celebrating a dance of the senses that comes close to a trance. Hypnotic. Striking. Oppressive. Fascinating," says a review in the Swiss journal Le Temps.   TANEC PRAHA 2012 is offering a special ticket reducement for the students, who are going to see the performance. Tickets are offered for special student prize CZK 290 instead of CZK 630. The tickets are valid for the 3rd prize category seating (parterre and 1st balcony).
