After the production Black clouds don’t cry DekkaDancers come with a brand new piece. This time, they bring a dynamic dance story on the music of Nick Cave: Caves and Creatures. The premiere will be held on 2nd December 2013 at the New Scene of the National Theatre, as a part of the Theatre 3000 conference.
Nick Cave and his work inspired DekkaDancers to create a story of the ill-fated rogue who wanders through an unknown and inhospitable land. On his way he’s subjected to many tests inspired by the imagery of Nick Cave. Štěpán Benyovszký, the author of the libretto and director says about his inspiration: "Nick's music contains positive energy and heartfelt melancholy. It offers the possibility to change the atmosphere – once he laments, the second time he mocks. Nick Cave marvels at all what one is capable of - whether it is good or bad. It is a material that is good to work with."
The Australian Nick Cave is famous for his unique music, but he’s also the author of screenplays, novels or poems, that show his excellent talent for mixing Christian and Anglo-Saxon motifs with stories about the wild, magical country Australia was for its original inhabitants and the first white settlers. Caves and Creatures will lead its audience into this strange world full of traps.
The creation particularly draws attention by linking the music of Nick Cave, contemporary dance, projection technology using motion-tracking sensors and a story-line based in the fantastical world. The premiere will take place within the first annual international conference Theatre 3000, which focuses on the use of multimedia in theater. DekkaDancers will be part of the conference that will introduce illustrious names of contemporary visual art, such as Marshmallow Laser Feast (UK), Frieder Weiss (DE), Nick Moran (UK) and more...
