Miřenka Čechová and Andrea Miltnerová are the authors of a new dance-art project called FAiTH, which will premiere on the 17th and 18 February in Ponec Theatre. It was created under Tantehorse - physical mime theatre company, who belong to the top in the field of movement theater at home and abroad. The production was created within the residence at Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington DC, which is Miřenka Čechová’s home scene in the USA and where she has already presented three productions, and in the Czech Republic in the Ponec theater. The premiere was preceded by a special presentation on the 29th January at Studio hrdinů at the festival Spectaculare and accompanied by the German band Bohren und Club of Gore.FAiTH deals with "the loss of faith in art, which replaced life, the inability to stop and inability to stay. The beauty of decay, violence of drill, the unbearable presence and a past that always catches up with us. What does it mean when a person is dedicated to a more elusive entity, when the artist is devoted to art so much that it becomes his purpose, his faith, and his religion. Can someone take your faith away? What if you lose faith in art? You open your eyes to blinding emptiness, into the grey shallow reality."FAiTH is, on one hand, inspired by the true story of a successful ballerina Taťána Juřicová who ended her life by jumping from a window, and on the other hand, it is a personal testimony of the main protagonist and director Miřenka Čechová and her experience with ballet during her adolescence. Miřenka Čechová says about the production: "The whole show is about the abyss, melancholy, moment of loss. The source of inspiration for me was the documentary story of the National Theatre prima ballerina Taťána Juřicová who committed suicide and who taught me at the Prague Conservatoire when I was going through a critical period of adolescence. Her story and fate still resonate in me and the parallels that intersect both of our lives scare me. This performance is based on the moment of recognition, a deep personal crisis and the cycle of nature, in which death is a mere part."This atmosphere is captured by a well-chosen music by Bohren group, which is often referred to as a fusion of a slow, brooding doom metal and atmospheric lounge or dark jazz, influenced by ambient. The band, which accompanied live a special performance of FAiTH at the Spectaculare festival, has been moving beyond all genres and trends for the past 20 years. For this new production, the holder of prestigious awards The Herald Angel Award Fringe festival Edinburgh and The Best of Dance by The Washington Post invited an equally important colleague Andrea Miltnerová. British dancer and choreographer of Czech origin who lives in Prague, has been for many years focusing on baroque dance and creative fusion with other dance techniques. Her latest experimental solo performance Dance of the Magnetic Ballerina was selected as priority performance at the prestigious European festival Aerowaves 2013.Links: www.tantehorse.cz www.divadloponec.czSource: Ponec theatre
