Festival TANEC PRAHA 2012 Presents Companies And Choreographers from 11 Countries

Companies and choreographers from eleven countries will perform at the 24th International festival of contemporary dance and movement theatre TANEC PRAHA 2012, the main part of which takes place between June 4 and June 29, 2012. "The festival programme offers many exceptional, high-quality dance experiences that are very diverse, moreover, most of them for the very first time in the Czech Republic," says Yvona Kreuzmannová, president of TANEC PRAHA civic association. Various companies from France, Germany, Argentina, Sweden, the Great Britain, Israel, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, Japan and, of course, the Czech Republic take part in the festival. Among the venues participating in the event are not only Prague theatres – Ponec, Archa Theatre, New Stage of the National Theatre and Karlín Musical Theatre – but also theatres in as many as ten Czech towns such as Brno, Český Krumlov, Hradec Králové, Choceň, Jihlava, Olomouc, Ostrava, Pardubice, Plzeň and Valašské Meziříčí. Among the festival highlights in Prague is the famous Swiss company Alias, performing a fascinating and hypnotic choreography Sideways Rain on June 26th and 27th at the Karlín Musical Theatre. The most recent piece Wind-up by choreographer and dancer Václav Kuneš of 420 PEOPLE along with the programme by guest artist Saburo Teshigawara will be performed at Archa Theatre on June 23rd and 24th. The spectators visiting the Archa Theatre on June 28th and 29th can look forward to the world-famous Flemish company Ultima Vez with their new choreography booty Looting by Wim Vandekeybus that will be performed for the first time in the Czech Republic. Apart from dance performances the festival programme also offers a wide range of workshops, films, lectures for students and public discussions. From May 28 to June 2 the main part of the festival is preceded by a prologue DANCE FOR CHILDREN, part of which are various dance-related workshops, performances, discussions, presentations and motion games for children and adults alike. The prologue concludes with the performance ZigZag by the French company étantdonné, aiming at children of pre-school age that includes an interactive workshop too.
