New jubilee yearbook „Ročenka“ is out in the stores
News
Ročenka is opened by a series of articles summarizing the happenings in ballet (Roman Vašek), contemporary dance (Jana Návratová), pantomime and movement theater (Ladislava Petišková) and new circus (Veronika Štefanová).
The publication is systematically divided into sections by regions. Apart from reviews of premiere productions in standard theatres, you will find observations from festivals and reports on various dance related events. Ročenka also presents texts on influential figures associated with dance (Emanuel Siblík), remembers the ones that recently passed away (Markéta Kyliánová, Vladimír Vašut, Richard Weber) and interviews other various prominent personages in the dance world – Eva Kröschlova, Kateřina Slavická, Libor Vaculík and more. The 2016/2017 yearbook traditionally concludes with bonus article, presented this time by Monika Šmídová, who explores the topic of “Choreography between intermediality and interactivity”. The whole book brings the up to date image of our dance art and as a printed document will be preserved for future generations.
Lucie Hayashi, The Editor in Chief of Taneční aktuality, comments on the last printed version of Ročenka: “Financially, it is regrettably no longer possible for us to afford yearly print of Ročenka; which is why we decided to realize a new project instead. We intend to publish a new periodical named “Tanecni aktuality – Special Edition”, featuring original articles from our editors and fellows.”
This new format is further outlined by its coordinator Petra Dotlačilová: “The new publication will engage onto Czech dance and movement art stage respecting significant anniversaries, studying its evolution and main events of past season. This project is meant to offer the space for deeper contemplation and analysis of the given topic (review, report, reflection, study or profiled interview). For foreign audience interested in Czech dance scene, a bilingual format is also expected”
The text archiving option on www.tanecniaktuality.cz portal will not be lost. The editorial board plans on offering PDF versions of articles to download for free, starting this season 2017/2018.
