ProART Brings Beethoven, Tolstoy and Janáček for the First Time on One Stage

On November 27, 2011 the Company ProART puts on the stage of the Theatre Rococo in Prague a European premiere of a new multi-genre project Tolstoy, Beethoven, Janáček: Kreutzer Sonata, directed by Martin Dvořák. A preview takes place on 20th November at the Czech Museum of Music. The project is inspired by three pieces by Beethoven, Tolstoy and Janáček that were created each in different times, yet with the same name: Kreutzer Sonata. This contemporary dance performance will be accompanied by live music and spoken word. "The theme is fascinating for the very existence of three topics in three different works with the same name. A sort of evolution, a change in time can be observed here. 1803, 1851, 1923 ... My idea was to approach each of them in a different way, yet to create a homogeneous dance-theater piece," said Martin Dvořák, an independent dancer, choreographer and artistic director of the Company ProART. The performance will be accompanied live by the piano and violin (Beethoven) and a string quartet (Janáček). The middle part (Tolstoy) is based on fragments of the original text and their live interpretation. "For each part a different choreographic approach, seeking mutual relations and influences between music-score, and book-text on one hand and movement-choreography on the other hand will be employed," the author said. The award-winning pianist Richard Pohl, violin soloist Jolana Dvořáková and Miloslav Ištvan Quartett, specialized in the interpretation of classical music, especially those of contemporary composers, were invited to join the project. Text will be interpreted by an actor, musician and presenter Robin Sobek. "We want to make the best of those impressive premises and establish a close contact with the spectator," the author said of the preview at the Czech Museum of Music. Another reruns of the project také place on November 22 at Bolek Polívka Theatre in Brno and on November 28 at DIOD in Jihlava. Source: ProART
