ProART Festival Starts in Brno on Friday

This year, the festival programme in Brno kicks off with Darrel Toulon, artistic director of the Oper Graz ballet ensemble, in the solo project dedicated to Vaslav Nijinsky, in the evening programme together with Budapest Dance Theatre. Debris Company and Elledanse come to Brno from Slovakia. ProART Company present their latest project String Quartets with the music by Leoš Janáček and Miloslav Ištván and a "one-act" Sfida Furioso with the theme by Pier Paolo Pasolini. In addition to the traditional gala of students and pedagogues and an open air dance hall for all those willing to dance, the programme in Brno culminates with the Israeli company of choreographers Liat Dror and Nir Ben Gal with their European premiere of Zen Dance. The last two evenings feature Swiss companies: T42 Dance Projects of Félix Duméril and Cie El Kontrabando of Anet Fröhlicher.
The Prague part of the programme features the guests from Israel and Switzerland as well. In addition to the aforementioned projects String Quartets and Sfida Furioso, ProART Company also present the premiere JAN by visiting choreographer Nir Ben Gal. The highlights of the week-long programme in Prague are the Korean company LHK&ISUM Dance Company of choreographer Hae Kyung Lee with a piece called Small Chat and the Italian company Aton - Dino Verga Danza of Rome with a Cunningham-like paraphrase of seasons Kisetsu No Iro. In cooperation with the New Stage of the National Theatre, an outdoor project of Felix Dumeril Find your space will be presented on the National Theatre piazzeta. The festival programme then concludes with a Polish dance company Zawirowania, performing a piece Navigation Song BD 303 by Israeli choreographer Irada Mazliah.
