Students of CIRQUEON Stun Stockholm: Summer Project of Cirkus Cirkör

A preparatory meeting of coordinators and representatives of the young participants took place in the Circus Cirkör in May and organizational issues as well as a detailed programme of the week were agreed on. "I really look forward to it, because in Circus Cirkör there is a training room with great facilities, all of which the CIRQUEON students will want to try. I'm also curious about the qualities of circus performers from other countries, particularly one juggler from Finland, whom I’ve seen just on the video, so finally I'm gonna see him live," says Aleš Hrdlička, one of the Czech students from CIRQUEON.
"The opportunity to go to one of the most prestigious circus centres of Europe is a great stimulation for young circus artists. During the week they are going to see their peers from six other European countries, they will work together and find out how they do in an international context. All six students work really hard and think seriously about going to study at professional circus schools," says Šárka Maršíková, CIRQUEON Director, adding: "We absolutely believe in our students, we have worked together for more than two years, we know they have something to prove and they are all very talented. I hope they find new friends and maybe they meet together in few years at Stockholm University." In addition to CIRQUEON and Circus Cirkör (SE), other companies such as Sorin Sirkus (FIN), Le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde (FR), École de Cirque de Bruxelles (BEL), Galway Community Circus (IRL) and Circus Zaltimbanq (LUX) take part in the project, which originated in the circus network Caravan Network. The project The Young European Hood: creative circus, active and trustful is thematically focused on human rights and their importance in the European Union. The project theme will appear both in the individual workshops and the final performance. The project was funded as a part of the Youth Exchange programme of the campaign Youth in Action.
