The programme of the 24th Festival of Contemporary Dance and Movement Theatre TANEC PRAHA 2012 is settled.
The main programme will be held from June 4–29 at Ponec Theatre, Archa Theatre, Karlin Musical Theatre and New Stage of the National Theatre. International companies from the USA, Netherlands, Dennmark, Switzerland, Japan, Belgium and other countries will come to Prague. The events of the year come from the Switzerland and Belgium – the company Alias with the piece Sideways Rain and the company Ultima Vez with the Czech premiere of the piece booty Looting. 10 regional towns are participating this years too – Brno, Český Krumlov, Hradec Králové, Choceň, Jihlava, Olomouc, Ostrava, Pardubice, Plzeň, Valašské Meziříčí. The festival will also offer rich programme for children, students and accompanying programme for professional dancers – workshops in Studio ALTA.
Tanec Praha - The International Festival of Contemporary Dance and Movement Theatre, has successfully developed and expanded throughout the 90’s. Increasing public and media interest enabled Czech audiences to gain a better understanding of the difference between traditional ballet and progressive, experimental dance, which crosses the borders between artistic contemporary disciplines.
Dramaturgy of the Festival is based on high quality level of artists (technically as well as artistically) sharing big names of dance world with not so well known but every time surprising, innovative artists from all over the world.
The whole festival is usually anticipated by the Czech Dance Platform, during which foreign partners will help to select Czech artists for the whole year project and also the site-specific work for different areas of Prague are agreed in details. Such an accompanying program helps to develop long-term projects of international co-production to be able to present new experimental work during the whole season especially in the new dance venue Ponec.
