The Cirkopolis Festival for The Second Time in Prague

After the successful first year of the Cirkopolis new circus, festival organizers are preparing a second sequel in the Akropolis Palace and in the Ponec Theatre in Prague from 15 to 21 February. This time the programme will focus on the contemporary work of the French new circus. "We maintain our objective to present the most interesting that Europe offers. We focus on small, intimate performances, which have a very unique poetics," explains Petr Boháč, the dramaturge of the Akropolis Palace, who organizes the festival together with the Cirqueon association.The festival starts on February 15 in the Akropolis Palace with the juggling group Cie DeFracto and their latest performance the Flaque, which combines distinctive juggling techniques with motion art. Another French group, the Sacékripa, will present the intimate performance by Etienne Manceau VU on 18 and 19 February in the Akropolis Palace. It is a form on the border of games with objects, a miniature, a circus and involuntary clownery.
One of the main attractions of the festival is the project Oktobre that takes place from 16 to 18 February in the Ponec Theatre. It combines elements of the new magic with acting and acrobatic performances of Yann Frisch, one of the best current magicians. In 2012 he won the prestigious international competition World Champion of Magic. The Festival will conclude on February 21 with the one-shot performance Cirkopolis vol 3, directed by the French director and teacher Florent Bergalo and several European new-circus performers. It will be rehearsed for only one week, and the performance will take place just once – during the Cirkopolis Festival.
The programme of the festival will be enriched by a series of workshops and seminars; there will also be an international meeting of the professionals with the topic “cross-border cooperation in Central Europe”. This year the festival is also heading for the regions for the first time – the performance Flaque of the group DeFracto will take place also in Jihlava and Olomouc.
