The non-profit organization Taneční aktuality (Czech Dance News) is transforming into the production platform Dance Context, a forum for dance reflection and development, from January 2024. The name change is accompanied by stabilising the portfolio and a new visual identity for the entire brand. 

The Czech Dance Database portal, where you can find events, opportunities, organisations and people in one place, has so far focused on the Czech dance scene. 

After six issues of the Special Edition, Taneční aktuality is introducing a new format of its publication. Dance Context Journal, under the editorial leadership of Petra Dotlačilová and Zuzana Rafajová, is the direct successor to the Special Edition.

This year's Special Edition, the sixth in a row, focuses on the theme of Dance and Words. It presents a diverse mixture of different views and opinions of both Czech and foreign authors on the subject, and for the first time also presents a section of peer-reviewed studies.

The new circus and pantomime theatre in Braník, Prague, will start its fourth season at the end of September. During this season, the BRAVO! theatre will host a number of regular and new guests as well as the local new circus group Losers Cirque Company. 

The anniversary edition of the International Festival of New Circus and Theatre begins, filling Letná Gardens with a new circus atmosphere from 17 August to 3 September. 

Czech Dance News, in cooperation with MOVE Fest Ostrava, will host workshops on Sustainability of Dance Media, focusing on the sustainability of arts media in terms of economics, HR and building a steady audience. The workshops will take place as part of the MOVE Fest festival .

The Nultý bod Festival, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, will spend its celebration by relaxing. In Prague, the festival regularly fills the cultural programme in July and offers innovative performances of contemporary foreign and Czech works...

The celebration of twenty years of its existence will begin with a unique tribute to the new circus. The opening performance is free to the public and will be shown only twice - on 16 and 17 August.

Romanian-born prima ballerina, former principal dancer of The Royal Ballet and lead principal of English National Ballet, Alina Cojocaru, was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in April this year for her services to ballet.

Czech Dance News in cooperation with the Czech Dance Platform will organize workshops Dance Criticism in the European Context and a discussion focusing on the development of art criticism in the Czech Republic. 

On Saturday 11 February, an incident took place at the Hannover State Opera House between choreographer Marco Goecke and the dance critic of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Wiebke Hüster.

Jiří Kylián, one of the most important choreographers of his generation, has become patron of the Prague Chamber Ballet this year. 

The two-year project "Dance and Performing Arts Criticism in Europe", aimed at the development of dance criticism, successfully launched the European scope of Czech journalism.
