Ariadne Mikou

With a background as a performer and an architect, Ariadne Mikou (PhD, University of Roehampton London) is a Greek-born dance artist-researcher and independent dance and screendance curator based in Italy. In parallel to her creative practice, she collaborates with artists and festivals for documentation and educational processes. In 2020, she began collaborating with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice for research projects exploring memory, transmission and interdisciplinarity (Dancing Museums-The Democracy of Beings; Memory in Motion: Re-Membering Dance History – Mnemedance). She has also conducted research on the dance archives of the Rome Opera House as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (2024–2025) for the project CHANGES - Cultural Heritage Active Innovation for Sustainable Society.
 

She publishes interviews and dance reviews, contributes to academic journals and book anthologies that explore dance, digital performance, expanded choreographic practices and site interventions. She is an Editor for the international portal The Theatre Times, contributes to Springback Magazine, a magazine dedicated to the field of contemporary dance in Europe, especially its independent arts sector, and she also collaborates with Hystrio. She is a member of the advisory board of the Creative Europe project SHIFT- Shaping Harmony Innovative Form and Thoughts led by Cie Omar Rajeh & Maqamat (France/Lebanon) and a researcher at TRANScenDANCE: Trans people within Dance and Performative Spaces, a European project co-led by the cultural association NEXUS (Compagnia Simona Bertozzi).
