Seeing the Paris Opera Ballet’s Paquita on 18 December felt like something of a Christmas miracle. Since opening night on the 5th, the ballet’s holiday run has been repeatedly disrupted by strikes, an increasingly common scenario every December.
After more than 10 years, the National Ballet of Canada came back to London with a truly national programme consisting of three Canadian choreographers of different generations – James Kudelka, Emma Portner, and Crystal Pite.
With Overture by Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau and Angel's Atlas by Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite, the Staatsballett Berlin and its intendant Christian Spuck present an evening that reconfirms how dance is able to give something back to the world.

Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT 1), one of Europe’s most prominent dance companies, paid a visit to London last April. Sadler’s Wells theatre hosted their triple bill, featuring two newer works, premiered in The Hague last year, and one “classic” by the former longstanding director of the company Jiří Kylián.
